2018 college discovery camp

The College Discovery Camp is a finishing & GK school run by the TCU Soccer Staff. It is open to girls in 6th through 8th grade.

This camp allows players a unique opportunity to work with current college coaches and TCU players.All training sessions will be held in the Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium on campus.

In addition, Goalkeeper specific training will be included in the training academy. Goalkeepers seeking to advance their technical, tactical, physical, and psychological understanding of the game will have an opportunity to work with TCU goalkeeping coach, Sebastian Vecchio.

Field Player Information: The field player program for girls 6th to 8th grade, is designed to supplement a player’s desire to be the best and discover her potential to play at the College Level. The College Discovery Camp will focus on technical development, quickness, and movement with the ball in finishing settings.

  • Creative Two Player Attacking
  • Footwork
  • Finishing
  • Deception with the Ball
  • Speed / Agility Training

Goalkeeper Information: The goalkeeper program, run by TCU Goalkeeper Coach Tom Serratore, is set up to address the needs of goalkeepers (6th to 8th grade). The goalkeepers will train together and will then be integrated with the field players. The goalkeeper program will address the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological skills necessary for being a goalkeeper.

Specific Areas of Focus Include:

  • Technical Training (Handling, Footwork, Distribution, Diving, Breakaways, Front Smother, Boxing, Tipping, & Parrying)
  • Tactical Training (Angle Play, Crosses, Organization, Set Plays)

Cancellation Policy: Attending any portion of camp constitutes full camp attendance. As such, no refunds (neither full or partial) will be issued upon attending any portion of camp. No refunds will be issued within 2 weeks prior to the start of camp. Refunds requested prior to the 2-week deadline will be assessed a 30% administrative fee.

2018 GIRLS WINTER COLLEGE ID SOCCER CAMP

This two-day event is designed for advanced player development and exposure to some of the nation’s top college coaches. College Coaches from across the region and country will be in attendance, and will represent Divisions 1, 2 and 3. In addition to college coaches, several Frog players will be employed by the camp for demonstration purposes.

Over the course of the weekend attendees will participate in training, scrimmages and a college talk seminar.

The TCU Soccer Staff believes that “the game is the best teacher.” The same philosophy will be applied at camp. The focus of all activities will be learning through play. Enrollment in the camp will be extremely limited to allow individual attention for each player from the staff of college coaches. A combination of small sided and full 11 vs 11 games will be at the core of the camp curriculum.

Players should plan on being available Saturday morning beginning at 9:00am, and finishing Sunday afternoon by 1:00pm.

Who Can Attend: Camp is open to Girls ages 14 and up. Field players and goalkeepers are welcome, however goalkeeper slots are very limited and will fill up quickly. Please be sure to register as a goalkeeper if you would like to be placed with the gks. Because of the nature of this camp, activities are designed and the focus will be on high-level soccer players. Players interested in camp should be in High School and should have college soccer at some level as a goal.

Facilites: The Winter Camp will be held in the state of the art Sam Baugh Indoor Facility. This facility contains a 100 yard long field turf soccer field. To view images of The Athletic Field House, go online to www.gofrogs.com.  The Indoor Facility guarantees each participant a proper training environment out of the elements, which will allow for the best exposure for college coaches.

Housing & Meals: Housing and meals are not included in the camp price therefore players who are attending from outside the area will need to make their own arrangements prior to attending camp. Each Day/Half Day Camp session will focus on skill development for the young soccer player. Campers will learn a host of different soccer skills and techniques through various exercises and games that are specifically designed for younger players. Campers are encouraged to learn and develop at their own pace under the careful guidance of Eric Bell and his expert staff including past and present TCU soccer players. The emphasis is always on having fun learning in a safe, enjoyable environment. Please note that while Gatorade and water will be provided, food will not. Please pack adequate snacks and a lunch for your camper daily.

Note: NO Goalkeeping Training will be available for Day & Half Day Camps.

Day Camp: Focus on fun and skill development for young boys and girls aged 8-13. Day Camps will run Monday-Thursday, 9:00am to 5:00pm at the TCU Soccer Stadium. Registration is Monday, 8:15am to 9:00am at the TCU Soccer Stadium.

 Day Camp Schedule:

  • 7:30am - 9:00am → Early Drop-Off (Available For Purchase)
  • 8:15am - 9:00am → Check-In
  • 9:00am - 11:00am → Morning Session
  • 11:00am - 2:00pm → Lunch / Movie
  • 2:00pm - 3:00pm → Kickball Session

Half Day Camp: The Little Frogs section of camp is a great way to expose boys and girls aged 5-7 to soccer in a fun and safe environment. Camp will run from 9:00am-11:00am Monday-Thursday. The main objective is to introduce and teach basic soccer skills and concepts through various fun exercises and games.

Half Day Camp Schedule:

  • 7:30am - 9:00am → Early Drop-Off (Available For Purchase)
  • 8:15am - 9:00am → Check-In
  • 9:00am - 10:50am → Morning Session
  • 10:50am - 11:00am → Wrap Up & Depart

Players Will Also Receive: Camp T-shirt, Camp bag, and verbal feedback throughout sessions & quality coaching from licensed coaches.

Groups: Campers will be put in groups based on their age. Campers will also have an option to ask for group requests at the time of online registration.

Staff: Coach Bell has worked hard to bring together a top quality coaching staff for the Academy. The staff includes college, club and high school coaches as well as some of the past and present TCU soccer players whose experience & knowledge will undoubtedly develop each camper’s game. All activities are stringently monitored but Athletic Trainers are also on duty at all times to handle any injuries or other medical needs.

Food: No food will be provided to the campers throughout the week. Campers will be expected to bring their own snacks and lunch to each day of camp.

Early Drop-Off: Extended hours are available for early drop-off. For an additional $40 one-time fee, you may drop-off your son/daughter between 7:30am-8:30am each morning. When registering, please be sure to select this option in your cart and pay at check out.

Photos: Tuesday is photo day! Campers have an opportunity to purchase individual photos with SUPERFROG and a full camp picture at the time on online registration. Any photos purchased will be distributed during the closing ceremonies of camp.

Camp Balls: A TCU Soccer Camp Ball may be purchased for $35.00 at time of online registration. You will be able to pick up your camp ball at check-in Monday morning. If you do not purchase a camp ball, please be sure to bring your own soccer ball with you to camp daily. Please note that we are not responsible for replacing lost or misplaced soccer balls.

TCU Soccer Commemorative Scarf: A TCU Soccer Commemorative scarf may be purchased for $35.00 at time of online registration.

Can Guardians Watch Camp: Guardians are allowed to stay and watch camp but must do so in the stands. Only camp staff and campers are allowed on the field throughout the day.

Early Pick Up: If a camper needs to be picked up early we ask that the guardian calls 817-395-9239 and a camp staff member will bring the camper up from the field.

Bad Weather: In the event of bad weather, camp will look to be moved to our indoor facility. (Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility 3000 Stadium Drive Fort Worth, TX 76129). Campers will be notified via email and twitter @ericbellsoccer
